Algonquin

King Bed (1)/Private Balcony/ Shared Bathroom

Algonquin is a provincial park located between Georgian Bay and the Ottawa River in Ontario, Canada. The Park is considered the “border” between Northern Ontario and Southern Ontario. It is an area of transition between northern coniferous forest and southern deciduous forest and supports an uncommon diversity of plant and animal species. Much in the same way as Somerset Getaways. It was a favorite camping/canoeing destination for our father, Volker Winkler, who would even bring his wetsuit to swim in the frigid waters. Its breathtaking beauty can only be dampened if you fall victim to the allure of portaging. As you unwind with the screen door open you can imagine laying in your canoe and drifting peacefully down one of the many rivers and lakes in the park as you are serenaded by the birds indulging in the bamboo fortress outside your balcony door. *Please note this room has a shared bathroom

It has remained a popular artistic subject since antiquity, both in visual arts and literature. Kerala

Kerala is a state on the southwestern coast of India along the Arabian Sea. It is known for its palm-lined, wide sandy beaches and backwaters. The great natural beauty and diverse ecology leads to the state to be promoted as “God’s Own Country.” Kerala is a world away from the hectic action of the rest of India and gave us a needed mental/physical break during one of our trips. It provided the full beach atmosphere and Pink Lady umbrella drinks, though the rip tides could be brutal, and sunscreen could not be trusted. As you relax in your tropical paradise, embrace the swathe of a soul-soothing, mood-boosting sunniness as you slow your subcontinental stride to a blissed-out amble. *Please note this has a shared bathroom

Shambhala

In Tibetan Buddhist and Indian Buddhist traditions, Shambhala is a spiritual kingdom somewhere in Inner Asia. It is seen as a Buddhist Pure Land, a fabulous kingdom whose reality is visionary or spiritual as much as physical or geographic. This mythical kingdom of jewel lakes, wish-fulfilling trees and speaking stones has fired the imagination of both actual explorers and travelers to the inner realms. Join us in this paradise of universal wisdom and ineffable peace as you take a well-deserved moment to just be. *Please note this has a shared bathroom

This is a rustic cabin, that is full of character. It is located behind the main house and does have its own driveway. There is an extensive flower garden out front. It was previously our family's library and is still home to an abundance of books.  There is a shared bathroom downstairs and narrow staircase leading to the second floor that has a set of two bunk beds with queen-sized beds in one room and a separate room with a unique four poster bed. There are two fold-out couches downstairs. It is country-living at its best. Please note, it is not a 5-star resort but a venue for those who prefer a simple stay that allows them to be closer with nature.

Arabian Nights

Queen Bed (1)/ Shared Bathroom

One Thousand and One Nights is a collection of Middle Eastern folk tales. It is often known in English as the Arabian Nights. Do you know the story of One Thousand and One Nights? Let me tell you… The monarch Shahryar, on discovering that his first wife was unfaithful to him, resolved to marry a new virgin every day and have her beheaded the next morning before she could dishonor him. Against her father's wishes, Scheherazade volunteered to marry the king. Once in the king's chambers, Scheherazade asked if she might bid one last farewell to her beloved sister, Dunyazad, who had secretly been prepared to ask Scheherazade to tell a story during the long night. The king lay awake and listened with awe as Scheherazade told her first story. The night passed by and Scheherazade stopped in the middle. The king asked her to finish, but Scheherazade said there was no time, as dawn was breaking. So, the king spared her life for one day to finish the story the next night. The following night, Scheherazade finished the story and then began a second, more exciting tale, which she again stopped halfway through at dawn. Again, the king spared her life for one more day so she could finish the second story. And so the king kept Scheherazade alive day by day, as he eagerly anticipated the finishing of the previous night's story. At the end of 1,001 nights, and 1,000 stories, Scheherazade told the king that she had no more tales to tell him. During these 1,001 nights, the king had fallen in love with Scheherazade. He spared her life and made her his queen. It is a fitting tale for this room, as our mother was a professional storyteller and an avid writer. Additionally, the bunk room once served as a “bedroom” for the four older Winkler’s. If the walls could talk, oh the stories they would tell…. *Please note a shared bathroom is located downstairs

Cabin Bunks

Queen Bed (4)/ Shared Bathroom

Each bunk bed is queen sized. They are all in the same room. The bathroom is located downstairs. Please note this is a narrow stair case.
